Stewart (Hunting Ancient)
your tartan, your story
The Stewart clan, one of Scotland's most prominent and historically significant families, traces its origins back to the 12th century. The clan's name is derived from the office of High Steward of Scotland, a title held by its founder, Walter fitz Alan, who was granted lands by King David I. The Stewarts rose to royal status in 1371 when Robert II, the grandson of Walter, became King of Scots.
